A new study called OptiHeat is looking for 100 households in Bristol with heat pumps to join a free study to improve your heat pump's efficiency to help promote good installation and usage.

A collaborative research project has been set up between Bristol City Council, the University of Bristol and the head pump certification provider MCS called OptiHeat. They are looking for 100 households in and around the Bristol area with a heat pump installed to participate in a free heat pump efficiency study.
What are OptiHeat’s project aims?
The OptiHeat project wants to identify ways to
- Improve the heat pump installation process
- Support homeowners with guidance on best utilisation of the installed heat pump
The study will consist of a free audit of your heat pump by a qualified MCS auditor and a short interview. The audit will give detailed feedback on the quality of the heat pump installation, and also provide advice on how to improve your heat pump’s efficiency with the hope this will reduce your heating bills, carbon footprint and improve the comfort of your home and more in Bristol.

- Identify any issues that could be affecting the performance of your heat pump
- Identify any safety issues that should be rectified
- Get support and advice to resolve the issues within points 1-2 above
- Highlight how well your heat pump is currently performing
- In addition, if you (as a householder) are interested in installing automated heat pump optimisation solutions, such a solution will be installed free of charge for the first 50 interested properties.
