Community Group Grants
We’re calling on community groups and organisations to play a key role in helping create carbon-neutral homes. By working together to cut energy use and make affordable heating and renewable energy options easier for everyone to access, we can build a more sustainable future for our communities.
Up to £8,000 grants are available for groups across the West of England to help upskill, develop and inform your communities about energy efficiency.
To be eligible, you must:
- Be in the West of England Combined Authority area (Bristol, South Gloucestershire & Bath and Northeast Somerset)
- Be incorporated – let us know, if not, as we might still be able to fund you!
- Be a group or an individual
- Consortium bids involving multiple organisations are welcome

Who are Retrofit West?
Retrofit West is a Community Interest Company providing clear, independent advice and support for home energy efficiency projects across the West of England. Funded by the West of England Combined Authority and set up by the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) a national charity and leading energy advice organisation. We’re here to help more people make their homes more energy efficient.
What's the Retrofit Accelerator?
The Retrofit Accelerator is a broader initiative funded by the Combined Authority, designed to provide organisations, community groups, and individuals with access to funding for retrofit advice and services. The programme also aims to strengthen the local supply chain and create green skills opportunities, offering support to small businesses such as builders and tradespeople involved in repairs, maintenance, and improvement works.
What's the objective?
We encourage community groups and organisations take essential steps in leading the transformation towards carbon-neutral homes. This involves concerted efforts to decrease energy demand and make affordable heating solutions and renewable energy usage widely available.
The anticipated impacts of these initiatives extend beyond environmental conservation. They are expected to enhance community well-being in several ways, including improving overall health standards, creating job opportunities, and generating significant financial savings for the community.
