How Renewable Technologies could save you £2,000 a Year
By installing a combination of renewable technologies, a home could reduce carbon emissions by 95% and annual energy bills by £2,000.
WWF and ScottishPower’s ‘Better Homes, Cooler Planet‘ report shows that installing renewable technologies such as an air source heat pump, solar panels and an EV charge point could reduce energy bills and carbon emissions.
The report produced in 2022 says installing these technologies in homes could cut harmful emissions by over 95% over the technology’s 30-year lifetime along with increasing property value by an average of £10,000.
Switching to these renewable technologies suggests it could reduce a home’s lifetime carbon emissions by up to 91 tonnes of CO2e, which is the equivalent of removing 42 vehicles off the road per household. To achieve net zero in less than 30 years, these emissions will need to be reduced to zero.
Can your Property Value Increase with Renewable Technologies?
The ‘Better Homes, Cooler Planet’ report analysed five million house sales in England and Wales which found:
- An air-source heat pump could increase the value of a property by £5,000 – £8,000
- Installing solar panels could increase it by £1,350 – £5,400
- An EV charge point could increase it by around £5,000
This shows on average, the value of a house could be increased by an average of £10,000 as a result of installations.
